A beautiful story
DOKUNVI was born from a deep quest for identity, knowledge and reconnection. Our main mission is to have a lasting impact on the African continent, by highlighting its wealth and potential. From Africa to the world.
Meaning of DOKUNVI
The term DOKUNVI means "children of wealth" in the Fon language of Benin. This name seemed obvious to us, because, as Africans, wherever we are in the world, whatever our history or our past, we are children of wealth. It is crucial to become aware of this reality and, once this awareness is made, to behave and act accordingly. This implies protecting , valuing and promoting our resources.
Today, we are increasingly educated and aware. We can no longer let others tell our own story. Our African food and culinary resources can become a powerful tool for economic development.
When we launched DOKUNVI in 2020, we knew that the road would be long and full of pitfalls. Why? Because our vision is big, ambitious even. To achieve this vision, it is necessary to deconstruct many prejudices and obstacles. It is necessary to connect and DOKUNVI would like to be this binder.
Logo symbolism
The choice of our logo fell on an Adinkra symbol, the fern called Aya. The fern is a hardy plant that grows even in the most difficult conditions. It is the symbol of ingenuity and resourcefulness. This symbol evokes the resilience demonstrated by a person in hostile and difficult conditions.
At DOKUNVI, the fern embodies our community’s resilience in the face of historical trauma and persecution. It demonstrates that despite all the difficulties, we will always find a way to grow and thrive.
Always.
Take action
Like this fern, DOKUNVI has continued to reinvent itself in recent years, overcoming every obstacle and constantly renewing itself. We started as an agricultural investment platform, evolved into a branding agency, and are gradually becoming a complete ecosystem. We have always been committed to making Afrofood a powerful tool of economic soft power.
The DOKUNVI ecosystem aims to serve as fertile ground so that wherever our community is, we can flourish, even in extreme conditions.
We don't have to stay alone.
Together we find the resources we need and operate in a system that allows us to always find our way to the light.
Even under concrete, the plant will grow.
